Filing Tip- V GROOVE- Using a small triangular file, one with a fine edge, I mark each of my layout lines where they need to be cut before I begin. See figure 2. This V groove gives your round file a defined groove to start in. No “V” groove may allow the round file to slip and not cut on the line you intend to cut. Once you’ve made that first cut you can move to the file you’ll be using to cut in the pattern. Pay attention! If your pattern calls for cutting every other line on each side or something other than every line make sure you ONLY cut lines that are to be filed on each side.
