Open dies can be used with a power hammer, treadle hammer or in some cases a hand hammer to forge specific images into ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Open dies are one sided, meaning they only produce the image on one side.
Use 3/8 inch x 3/4 inch flat stock for this dragon foot open die. This is how the dragon's foot looks from the side after you bend it to make a leg for an art piece. This style dragon foot was used in Ernie Dorrill's Gothic Candlestick class. Every foot was made form scratch in that class. This one gets you there faster and insures the feet match. File a little more aggressively on the inside of the claws and/or hammer the claws in a little towards the middle for a curved look. You would be buying the open dragon foot die with handle used to make this dragon foot, not the dragon foot.
